Before treatment, the teeth is taken photos. So you can see the bleached teeth clearly at the end of the treatment. After general examination, the tartar is cleared and it takes 60 minutes and treatment is completed in one or two seance. To prevent the harm of bleaching agent in teeth, dentist applies a special gel to the bleaching area.
This bleaching agent which consists of hydrogen peroxide, is applied to the exterior surface of the teeth. In order to activate the agent, there are two methods. In the first method, led light source is applied the bleaching area during 15-20 minutes. In the other method which is more effective, YAD Laser light is applied to every tooth during 30 seconds. After these processes, the bleaching agent is removed the teeth. If the root canal therapy was done before and tooth is unnerved(non-vital), the agent is put inside of the tooth to whiten and the it is covered with temporary stopping. It stays like this during a few days and this process is repeated until reaching the required whiteness.
Does Bleaching have a risk and what is the adverse effect?
Bleaching has no remarkable risk. In some cases, there can be sensibility in gum and can occur light irritation. But these are short-term and temporary. In addition, it is not known the effect of bleaching agent in fetus so the bleaching should not be applied in the pregnancy period. Since this is a cosmetical method, it can be delayed after pregnancy. |
