Full Porcelain Crown without metal support

Porcelain is a healthy material very similar to enamel. In the past porcelain was not used alone it had to be used on a metal platform. Ever since technology as advanced making it possible. Metal platforms prevented light passing through the teeth and so very often occurrence of gray areas on edge of gum.

Although there are a lot of things which effect the apperance of crowns, the most important is a response to the light. Natural teeth pass the light. As a result of this feature, the teeth are bright and deep.

Porcelain Crowns without metal platform are transparent and so you will have more bright teeth like natural teeth.

What are the advantages?

Full porcelains are transparent so it is very similar to natural teeth structure as esthetics. But metal porcelains are artificial and dull although they are made perfectly. So, in the front teeth, full porcelains are prefered.
Porcelains with metal platform seem dark color and you feel there is not any porcelain in some light like disco lights, photo-flash. But full porcelains pass all sort of light like natural teeth.
Porcelains with metal support are mechanically bonded to the teeth. Full porcelains are bonded to the teeth not only mechanical but also chemically. So their binding is stronger than binding of porcelains with metal support.
Porcelains without metal are more esthetics because there is no metal platform so it is not seen any dark line between cworn and gum.
When there is a gum disease, full porcelains keep their esthetics apperance, but metal porcelains look bad.
In full porcelains, there is not occured any allergy risk against some metals( like nicel)

What is Zirconium?

For a long years, metal platform had been used under the tooth for hardness in the porcelain application. But an alternative material instead of metal was searching because of disadvanteges of metal in terms of gum, dental tissue, general body health and esthetics.
Before zirconium is successfully used in other area of Medicine. After using zirconium in the Medicine instead of porcelain metal, a new age has started.

Because this new porcelains with zirconium platform do not cause any gum disease or allergy. In addition, it is transparent so it is very similar to natural teeth as esthetics and functional.

Crown and bridge which is made to put the porcelain onto the zirconium are called CERCON which is the combination of words, Ceramic and Zirconium. This system atrted a new season in dentistry in terms of 900 Mpa resistance, very high physical values, being transparent, tissue compliance and consisting of various indication. It is proved that this material is very successful in medicine and industry. It has been used in clinic application since 2002 result of researches started in 1998. In this new application, the patient has no esthetics problem in metal-ceramics and full ceramics restoration.

Where can it be used?

Crown restoration in a tooth.
Bridges wit 3-6 members (anatomical length is until 38mm)
Crown-bridge implementation on implants.

What are the stages of the treatment?

After preparing the tooth which will be made crown or bridge, they are measured. In the same seance, after preparing the temporary crown or bridge, they are fixed to the teeth.
Powered porcelain platform or metal platform, which is compatible to the prepared teeth surface,is prepared in the laboratory. It is controlled in the mouth by trying on the teeth.
After identifying the colours of the other teeth, porcelain on the platform is worked out in the laboratory.
Porcelain crown or bridge is controlled inside the mouth by the dentist , technician and patient as fuctionally and esthetic.
If you got the desired result as funtional and esthetic, the crown or bridge will be bonded by special materials.

So; High Technology for Perfect Results

Until now, zirconium was not used in the dental application because of high cost. By the project of Zurich Federal Technology Institution, zirconium oxide can be used in dentistry economically. Zirconium has been used in the Medicine since 1960 so , it is known that this material is very reliable by long term researches.

Zirconium is initially used in hip joint prothesis and then it is used in various parts of the body for various aims. Until now it is not seen any adverse effect or any harm or allergy.

Zirconium is resistant to high temperature and impact, it is weak, nonconducting of electrics and heat and it is also transparent material.
Moreover, it is so healthy material that it does not cause bad palate, gingival problem and bad breath.

With the measurement in your mouth , a wax model is prepared. Then an instrument with PC prepares the platform by abrading the zirconium oxide block with getting the required information from the model. Proper color ceramics is placed the area which was prepared by abrading so this application icompleted. Anymore, strong and esthetics restoration without metal can be done by a technological product which is zirconium.

What is Cercon?

It is a very high quality product today in terns of esthetics, hardness, tissue accordance and being natural which are very important necessity in the Medicine. For users, cercon application has some important advantages. Cercon ceramics placed onto the zirconium oxide platform decrease adsorbing the food waste and microorganism to the surface of the teeth. So it provides oral hygine. Zirconium oxide does not conduct the heat so cold or hot food does not cause any sensitivity in your teeth.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is it required any special adhesive?
No, it can be adhered by conventional methods.

Can it be adhered temporary?
Yes

Is there occured any cold-hot sensitivity?
No. Because zirconium oxide is heat insulator.

Does it cause allergy?
No, zirconium oxide is a tissue compatible material.

Is it opaque?
No.

Is there any recession?
No. According to the researches, it is perfectly compatible to the gingiva. Of course it does not stop the recession depending on aging.
